Located in the Eastern Pyrenees, the Arboretum du Mas Roussillon is a place of research, conservation, and dissemination dedicated to plant biodiversity and the dialogue between nature and culture. Its participation in the Cultural Route highlights the French territory’s commitment to promoting knowledge and safeguarding medicinal plants, in line with European values of cooperation, sustainability, and shared heritage.

During the ceremony, the official plaque will be unveiled, recognising the Arboretum du Mas Roussillon as a member destination of the European route Aromas Itinerarium Salutis, strengthening the bond between culture, science, and nature within the international network of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.

Covering 13 hectares divided among orchards, arboretums, and themed gardens – from the pond with water lilies and lotus flowers to a xerophytic garden dedicated to desert plants – the Arboretum serves as a centre for research and promotion managed by the Centre Catalan d’Études en Agronomie Méditerranéenne et Environnement (CCEAME). Open all year round with free admission, it represents a place of environmental education and biodiversity conservation.
