The Hygeia Legacy - 1° edition

Heritage, identity and memory of historic pharmacies and medicinal gardens in Europe

The Hygeia Legacy is the first edition of the International Seminar promoted by Aromas Itinerarium Salutis, bringing together scholars, curators, professionals and institutions to reflect on the cultural, identity-based and scientific value of historic pharmacies and medicinal gardens in Europe.

The event represents a unique occasion in the European context: for the first time, pharmacy museums and specialist collections from different countries meet in a structured exchange setting, with the aim of sharing experiences, best practices and common strategies for the preservation, interpretation and enhancement of this heritage.

A heritage which, in some cases, still appears fragmented in terms of study, valorisation and accessibility, and which therefore requires an integrated and collaborative approach. The seminar marks a foundational step in the development of the European Route of Historic Pharmacies and Medicinal Gardens, promoting a joint international effort to strengthen the visibility and contemporary relevance of Europe’s pharmaceutical memory.
