She holds a degree in Geography and History, specialising in Art History, and a Doctorate in Art History from the Universitat de València. Extraordinary award for her degree and doctorate from the Universitat de València and Academic Recognition Award from the Valencian Government. Her research activity focuses on the study and analysis of museology and museography and art criticism, with special attention to contemporary art and cultural heritage linked to the exchange and dissemination of ideas and knowledge, from the perspective of visual studies and the gender perspective.

She has been Vice-Dean and Dean of the Faculty of Geography and History. She has been Director of the University Culture Service and of the Arxiu Valencià del Disseny (Valencian Design Archive) of the Universitat de València.

She is currently a Management Committee Member of COST EuroWeb (EU), and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Valencia Fine Arts Museum and the Design Foundation. She has been a member of the Governing Council of the IVAM and of the Committee of Experts for the evaluation of the museological facilities of National Heritage.

She has been director of the SILKNOW project: ‘Silk heritage in the knowledge society: from punch cards to big data, deep learning and visual/tangible simulations’ (European Union’s Horizon 2020), which has been distinguished internationally with the Europa Nostra Prize for Cultural Heritage 2022.

She has a degree in Art History, Journalism and Occupational Therapy. She has a PhD in Geography and History from the Universitat de València and a PhD in Art History from the Universitat Politècnica de València (PhD Program: Conservation and Restoration of Historical Heritage). She has a master’s degree in Development Cooperation with a specialty in International Humanitarian Aid from the Universitat Jaume I (Castellón). 

She is currently Vice-Dean of International Relations, Quality and Educational Innovation at the Faculty of Geography and History. She is President of the Commission for Equality and Inclusive Policies and President of the Sustainability Commission of this same Faculty, and member of the Sustainability Commission of the Universitat de València. She has been Regional Vice-President of International Cooperation and Humanitarian Diplomacy at the Spanish Red Cross-Valencia Community, having gained experience in this field in Latin America, West Africa, and Southeast Asia (subcontinent: India). She is director of the International University Observatory of ‘Intangible Culture and Global Village’, promoted by the UNESCO Chair-Development Studies of the Universitat de València. 

She is professor in the Department of Art History at the Universitat de València. Her research focus for nearly two decades has been the physicochemical and cultural study of colors, scents, and historical drugs. Since 2016, she has been the Scientific Director of the research project at the Santa Maria della Scala spezieria, Rome, which has had different phases, the current one being: ‘Digital Alliances in the era of smart cultural tourism: safeguarding and immersive multisensory storytelling in the (in) tangible cultural heritage of Hygeia-Roma Hispana’ (Ministry of Science and Innovation-NextGeneration-European Union).

In 2021 she was coordinator of the I European Symposium: ‘Drugs & Colors in History: Revisiting historical traditions, pharmacies & workshops’, which took place in Valencia, and whose 2nd Edition will be held in 2023 in the city of Évora, Portugal. She is the coordinator of the I International Seminar ‘Hygeia Legacy: Pharmacy Museums and Collections in Europe Heritage, Identity and Memory’, which will take place in Valencia in May 2023 with a double venue: Universitat de València and Very Illustrious College of Pharmacists of Valencia.

Simona Tardi

She holds a degree in Cultural Heritage and a Masters in History of Art, both from the University of Palermo (Italy). She is currently a PhD candidate in the PhD programme in Geography and History of the Mediterranean at the University of Valencia (Spain). Her research focuses on the tangible and intangible heritage of European historical pharmacies as an element of identity and European historical memory, within the framework of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe programme.

Since 2021, she is a member of the Europe Committee of the International University Observatory of Intangible Culture and Global Village – UNESCO Chair of the University of Valencia (Spain).

Since 2023, she is a member of the project “Digital Alliances in the era of smart cultural tourism: safeguarding and immersive multisensorial storytelling in the (in)tangible cultural heritage of Hygeia-Roma: spezieria of Santa Maria della Scala”.

Cristina Expósito de Vicente

She holds a degree in Ar History at the University of Valencia (Spain) and a Master in Religious Sciences, a Master in Feminist Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain), and a Master’s Degree in Analysis and Authentication of the Work of Art by the University of Valencia (Spain). She is a Doctor in Sciences of Religions and her main line of research is the study of color from physical-chemical perspectives and as a historical document to analyze the culture and religion of societies; her work especially focuses on the territories of Israel, Palestine and Jordan. 

She is part of the Research Group of the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) called “Bible. Texts and Iconography” and she is the secretary of the Association of Young Researchers in Religious Sciences (AJICR).

Since 2021, she is a member of the Middle East Committee of the International University Observatory of Intangible Culture and Global Village – UNESCO Chair of the University of Valencia (Spain).
