From El Retiro to Europe: AIS joins Cultural Routes Exhibition

AIS joins the inauguration of the photographic exhibition on the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe at the Madrid Book Fair

The Aromas Itinerarium Salutis (AIS) – The European Route of Historic Pharmacies and Medicinal Gardens, certified as a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe in 2024, will take part in the official inauguration of the photographic exhibition “Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe in Spain”, organised by the Spanish Ministry of Culture through its Subdirectorate General for Cultural Heritage Management and Coordination.

The event will be held on Sunday, 1 June 2025, from 12:30 to 13:30, at the CaixaBank Pavilion of the Madrid Book Fair, located in El Retiro Park (main access via Puerta de Madrid, across from Casa Árabe).

Representing AIS will be Dr. Alejandra Gómez Martín, Curator of the Museum of Hispanic Pharmacy at Complutense University of Madrid and member of the AIS Scientific Committee.

The exhibition, which will remain open to the public until 15 June, highlights Spain’s involvement in 27 out of the 48 Cultural Routes currently certified by the Council of Europe, and reflects the programme’s core values: cultural diversity, shared European identity, and sustainable heritage tourism.
